Common Israel Take-Home Pay Questions

On ₪200,000 gross a year in Israel for 2026, take-home pay is about ₪152,000, roughly ₪12,667 a month. That reflects around ₪25,000 of income tax, about ₪10,000 of National Insurance (Bituach Leumi) and close to ₪5,800 of health tax, for a combined effective rate near 24%.

On an annualised basis, the 2026 brackets are:
10% up to ₪75,960
14% on ₪75,961-₪108,960
20% on ₪108,961-₪174,360
31% on ₪174,361-₪242,040
35% on ₪242,041-₪501,960
47% above ₪501,960

Contributions to the National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi, ביטוח לאומי) for 2026 come in two tiers:
Lower tier: the employee pays 0.4% on income up to 60% of the average wage, about ₪67,000 a year
Standard tier: 7% on income above that point, up to the contribution ceiling
Health tax (מס בריאות) sits alongside it at 3.1% below the same 60% line and 5% above it.

Israel runs a credit-point system (נקודות זיכוי), with each point worth ₪2,904 a year in 2026. Every resident employee gets:
2.25 points as the standard base
0.25 point more for residency
Women receive an extra 0.5 point, taking them to 3 points in total, a credit of roughly ₪8,712 a year.

Israel is home to one of the densest tech scenes anywhere, with Tel Aviv a top-tier startup hub. Engineers and other tech staff often earn ₪300,000 to ₪800,000 a year. On ₪500,000 the effective rate reaches about 35%, still under comparable UK or European levels, and many tech workers also hold RSUs and options, which follow their own tax treatment.
